Find Your Funny 1 – A comedy workshop by Rachelle Elie
From Charlie Chaplin to Carol Burnett to Bill Irwin to Jim Carey clowns come in many forms.
Clown is a versatile training method for performers who want to expand their physical and emotional range.
These workshops are for you if you want to:

Rachelle’s teaching is influenced by her twenty years of performance experience, personal clown research, study with various Master Teachers.
The focus of this class will be on guiding artists in the discovery of their individual clown.
This workshop is suitable for performers and non-performers, beginner and seasoned clowns, as well as actors, dancers, writers and physical theatre artists of all levels.

Rachelle’s Bio
Rachelle Elie has been developing her unique vision of contemporary society for over twenty years. Starting with Drama at Bishop’s University and further postgraduate studies in Vancouver’s Studio 58 Professional Acting Program, she found her strength in characters and physical theatre with Le Coq graduate and co-creator of The Overcoat Wendy Gorling.
Rachelle’s experience with clown and mask grew through studies with clown pioneer Ian Wallace, partner to Richard Pochinko, first as a student and later as an assistant teacher. She continued her training and performance with Cirque de Soleil veteran Gina Bastone. In Toronto Rachelle furthered her clown studies with John Turner (Mump & Smoot), Mike Kennard (Mump & Smoot), David Shiner (Fool Moon), Francine Cote (Formation Clown), James Keylon (Cirque de Soleil) and Sue Morrison (Institute of Canadian Clowning). She has studied bouffon with Master Teacher Philippe Gaulier, Adam Lazarus (The Toronto Festival of Clowns) and Karen Hines (Newsroom). She is a self-taught stand-up comedian.
In performance Rachelle is known for her boundless energy, fearlessness and dynamic stage presence. She has toured four original one-woman shows across Canada and has performed stand up in the U.S and Australia. Her clown show Sticks & Bones was called “funny and unforgettable” by the Winnipeg Sun and was seen in every major Canadian city. She also won an Outstanding Comedy Award at The Ottawa Fringe Festival for her one person show JOE: The Perfect Man. She is a regular comedian and host at Montreal’s Comedy Nest and has performed in The She Dot Festival and Cracking Up The Capital. Elie is also co-producer of two very popular Cabaret ‘s in Toronto: The Rag Bag Cabaret and Monkey’s Frigging Lunchbox.
